Tottenham Hotspur are now into the semi-finals of the FA Cup after a massive 6-0 win over Millwall on Sunday, their highest margin of victory in the competition for over 40 years.
Son Heung-min hit the headlines with a superb hat-trick that was supplemented by goals from Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Vincent Janssen.
While it was of course a day of celebration for the Spurs fans, it was tinged with a hint of trepidation after their star man this season, Harry Kane, had to leave the field injured after just 7 minutes of action.
It occurred in a seemingly innocuous incident involving Millwall’s Jake Cooper and Spurs have now been left anxiously waiting for results of a scan on his ankle that will reveal the extent of his injury and how long he could be out for.
As quoted by the BBC, Mauricio Pochettino said:
It looks like last time against Sunderland, it was the same ankle. We need to assess some more and after tomorrow [Monday] we will see.
That previous injury sustained against Sunderland kept Kane out for five Premier League games and if that’s the case again then he misses a massive chunk of Spurs’ vital run-in.
Having scored a massive 24 goals for the club in all competitions so far this season, that would be a bitter blow to Spurs’ ambitions of finishing second and lifting the FA Cup.
